Tuscany is situated on the Tyrrhenian Sea and has an extensive coastline with numerous beaches. A number of these beaches hold the so-called Blue Flag designation. Beaches with a 'Blue flag' belong to the cleanest beaches in the world. This is assessed based on water quality, applied environmental management, environmental information and education, services, and safety. In the northwestern tip of the province of Lucca is the Versilia coastal strip to be found. The Versilia The region is known for its luxury hotels, golden beaches, and vibrant nightlife. The wide sandy beaches slope gradually into the sea, making the coastal strip perfect for families with small children. After a wonderful day at the beach, you can still enjoy yourself in one of the many shops or restaurants found here. Everything you need for a lovely beach day is within easy reach. The beaches are easily accessible as both the railway line and the motorway (A12) run parallel to the coastal strip.

Further down, past Pisa, lie the beaches of Livorno. Livorno has something to offer every beachgoer. In the north, beaches can be found where various water sports activities such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, and diving can be enjoyed. For this, you can go to Ardenza beach and Antignano beach. Many beaches along the coast near Livorno consist of a mix of sand and fine pebbles. The beaches are mostly gently sloping and therefore child-friendly; we mention Vada, Cecina Mare, and Marina di Bibbona.

In the south of the Tuscan coastal region are the beaches of Grosseto to be found. The province Grosseto It is characterized by the pristine nature of the Maremma region and the beautiful beaches and bays. The coastal area of Grosseto is more than 100 kilometers long, and just like on Elba, many beautiful, unspoiled (hidden) spots can be found along the coast. Near Castiglione della Pescaia, there is a beach that many consider to be one of the most beautiful in Italy: Cala Violina. However, getting there requires some effort, as it can only be reached on foot via a forest path.
