The villa is on one level and has a beautiful garden and a furnished terrace with veranda and private swimming pool. Inside you will find a well-equipped modern, sleek kitchen with dishwasher, air conditioning, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and a washing machine (ironing board and iron also provided). The villa has 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed. A double sofa bed in the living room offers the possibility to accommodate 2 extra people. There are 2 bathrooms with shower, toilet, and bidet.
The summer in Sardinia is usually very sunny and warm. In the spacious terrace with veranda, you can enjoy the shade during the warmest hours of the day, or you can take a refreshing dip in the private swimming pool. During your stay you can make use of the poolside sun loungers and beach towels. There is also an outdoor shower, which is carved into a rock, as it were. The holiday villa is located in the northwest of Sardinia, about 20 minutes’ drive from Sassari. The nearest airport is in Alghero which is 25 km far. Alghero is a pleasant city with a wide variety of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, and ice cream parlours. Various boat trips and tours are offered from Alghero harbour.
Alghero is a city with strong Catalan influences. The city is also known as Barceloneta, little Barcelona, and almost a quarter of the inhabitants speak a Sardinian variant of Catalan. Alghero is one of the best places in Sardinia for tourists, a real must-see. There is much to see in the cultural field, from archaeological excavations to churches and medieval palaces. Highlights include the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the Casa Doria and the Chiesa di San Francesco.
There are several beaches close to Villa Santa Barbara. Spiaggia di Porto Ferro is 20 km far. The beach of Porto Ferro is about 2 km long, recognizable by the 3 towers that are left of the Spanish influences from the eighteenth century. The sand has an ochre colour and there are many rocks, ideal for someone who likes to snorkel. The view is breath-taking: the crystal-clear water in combination with the green surroundings is a great spectacle, highly recommended!
Spiaggia di Argentiera, 23 km away from the villa, is named after the silver mines that where once active in the region. Traces of the mining heritage of the area can still be found in the village behind the beach. Spiaggia di Argentiera consists of 2 sandy beaches with clear waters, separated by a small rock in the middle. The bay is protected by a high cliff. Umbrellas, sun loungers, pedal boats and canoes are rented on site. There is ample parking (also for campers), restaurants, bars, and a pizzeria.
If you don't mind driving a little further, we recommend La Pelosa beach, 40 km away from the villa. La Pelosa beach is about 330 meters long and is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. The area is popular among divers, which is why there are 2 diving schools nearby that offer an excursion to Capo Falcone, highly recommended for diving enthusiasts. There are also surfboards and canoes for rent. Keep in mind that it can be very busy in the summer months because it is a very popular beach.
