Sardinia: places to visit

Sardinia has a rich history, and interesting culture and is the perfect destination for sun and nature lovers. With so many different things to see and to do, choosing the places to visit during your holidays can be hard. We listed some of the most beautiful sights for you.

What to see (and do) in Sardinia

On the west of the Italian coast, in the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, lies the beautiful island of Sardinia. This charming island has a rich history, is bursting with culture and is the perfect destination for sun, sea and nature lovers. There is something to see for everyone: go to the lively city of Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, or opt for the historic Alghero, and you will have history, culture, nature, beaches and great Mediterranean specialities all within reach! Tritt listed the most beautiful sights for your holiday in Sardinia.

The Lively Cagliari

City centre of Cagliari in Sardinia

You will not be bored for a moment in Cagliari, the island's capital. The city has a vibrant nightlife and many good restaurants and cosy bars. B & B Carlo Felice is a B & B with hotel services and is ideally located in the old centre of Cagliari. During the day you can admire beautiful historic sites such as the Amphitheatre, Il Castello or go shopping in the shopping area around Via Roma. You will score nice souvenirs here: how about a bottle of Sardinian DOC wine? Read more about Cagliari here

Palau, the port town

The port city of Palau is also recommended. Enjoy the sun on the Caribbean style beaches, go on a trip to explore the coast or enjoy the tasty Sardinian cuisine. From the port of Palau, you can easily take a boat trip to the La Maddalena Archipelago. Want to have a view of the La Maddalena Archipelago from your private villa? Then book Villa Rafael and enjoy a panoramic view!

Beach in Sardinia in the town of PalauIn Palau you will find beautiful bounty beaches with white sand, clear blue water and the town has a beautiful historic centre. Go back in time for a while and stroll past the eighteenth-century houses. Want to know more about Sardinia? Discover the hinterland of Northern Sardinia with the picturesque train 'Trenino Verde', which departs from Palau. Read more about Palau here

The historic Alghero

Interested in the Sardinian culture? Then be sure to visit the historic city of Alghero. You can imagine yourself back in time as you walk through the narrow streets and admire the impressive old city walls and the bastions. Wherever you are in Alghero, history is everywhere. For example, in the middle of the shopping street Via Carlo Alberto there is the old church of San Michele. Want to cool down during your stay in Alghero? Then be sure to visit the Grotta di Nettuno, you can join a boat tour from the touristic harbour. From Borgo Corallo you are in the center of Alghero within 10 minutes. In the city of Alghero itself you can also stay on one of the beautiful city’s beaches. Read more about Alghero here
