Borgo Corallo Residence
Borgo Corallo is an attractive complex of holiday homes close to Alghero’s airport. The complex consists of 12 holiday apartments and 2 dethatched mini holiday villas. Borgo Corallo is located in a large estate in the northwest of Sardinia, owned by the Manca family who are also the largest olive oil producers in the island. The holiday homes are in a very quiet location, surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean nature, about 14 km from the lively city of Alghero.
Because of its position, a bit high up the hill, from your holiday home you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Alghero and the sea below.
The apartments are built as semi-detached villas in Sardinian style and all have a terrace or veranda. They all have premium quality stylish furniture. All the apartments have air conditioning and heating, a fridge, an oven, a 4-burner hob, a microwave, a washing machine, a satellite TV (mainly Italian channels, some English-language news channels) and an internet connection. Some of the apartments also have a dishwasher. Outside, there is a private parking space and a stone BBQ.
In the garden there are two beautiful swimming pools with Jacuzzi and shower. You can then enjoy the sun on the beds and umbrellas around the swimming pool.
At Borgo Corallo there is a nice restaurant, that is also popular among the locals for its great food and wines. The restaurant is named Le Pinnette (a name that refers to the small huts that Sardinian shepherds used as a shelter for the night) and it servers a simple menu, that is based on good quality ingredients and excellent wines. The menu is based on products from the Manca’s farm, such as vegetables, wild boar, lamb, fresh pastas, and cheeses. The dishes are seasonal and come from the traditional Sardinian cuisine and specifically from the region around Alghero, and once per week there will be barbecue evening in program!
The estate is still an active farm which houses a small animal farm where pigs, donkeys, sheep and chickens are kept, which can be interesting and fun for children to visit.
On the same property there is also the Residence Corallo, which can also be found on our website. The holiday homes of the residence are located lower, and the furniture is simpler. The estate includes two detached holiday homes, Villa Corallo for 11 people and Villa Santa Barbara for up to 6 people.

Borgo Corallo is 7 km far from Alghero’s airport and in 10 minutes by car you can also reach Alghero. Alghero is a cozy medieval town with a picturesque historic centre where you will find welcoming bars, cafes, restaurants, shops and ice cream parlours. You can join various boat tours from the port of Alghero.
Closer by is the fishermen’s village of Fertilia, where you can find some shops, pizzerias, and a bar. A beautiful white sandy beach is 5 km from the property and extends to the village of Fertilia, where the Alghero Fertilia international airport is also located.
Near Alghero, you can visit the imponent Nuraghe of Palmavera. Nuraghes are mysterious stone towers that were built during the Bronze Age (1500 BC) and afterwards all over Sardinia. The special thing about these towers is that they are made of large stones that are stacked on top of each other without the use of cements. In Sardinia there is an estimated total of 8000 nuraghes, and the archaeology scholars still have no clue about the people who built them, their culture and religion nor the purpose of the structures.
The Nuraghi are a characteristic symbol of Sardinia. You can see them all over the island, especially in central Sardinia. The most famous, that can be visited, is the complex of Su Nuraxi (on the Unesco World Heritage List), the Nuraghe Losa in Abbasanta and Palmavera in Alghero.
Another must-see in Alghero’s area is a visit to Neptune's Dripstone Caves. You can reach these by boat (there are organized boat tours of approx. 30 minutes) and by car (approx. 45 minutes). If you go by car you can take the stairs from the lighthouse to the cave. This staircase, the “Escala del Cabirol” - the goat staircase - is carved into the rock and has 660 steps. Groceries can be done in Santa Maria La Palma, there is also a restaurant, a bank and pharmacy.

This small-scale accommodation is located on a huge olive grove farm. A beautiful landscape that you drive through (well maintained). Apartments are located on top of the hill, so you look out over the olive trees and see Alghero in the distance. It's nice that you get a small bottle of olive oil from the orchard as a present.
If there is sufficient interest, a lunch barbecue will be organized once a week. Very nice, but when we were there it was not sufficiently full.
There are also 2 playgrounds on site and all kinds of animals (great for children).
The big plus of this accommodation are the very large swimming pools. There are 2 that you share with a few houses (we were often alone because it was low season). We had a 2 room apartment in a row of 5 apartments. Because it is located in 1 row, you have little privacy. There is a screen between the terraces, but you are immediately next to each other. There are also some larger accommodations on the site and they have more privacy.
Very nice stay for family with young children. Lots of animals on the residence, nice pool and nice playground. Stay spacious, so always quiet. Friendly staff and plenty of shade for the warmer days.
