Residence Il Mirto is hidden in a natural park of olive trees, right on a private beach on the northeast coast of Sardinia. It is a spacious beach resort with a saltwater swimming pool, sun terrace, restaurant, pizzeria/beach bar, piano bar, wellness facilities, tennis court, 9-hole golf course, bowling alley, basketball court and a playground. In short, a holiday park for a complete family holiday!
The facilities (with the exception of the swimming pool) are shared with the guests of the associated hotel in the holiday park. The saltwater swimming pool with sun terrace at the apartments is located in a tranquil oasis of mediterranean vegetation. Showers, toilets and changing rooms can also be found by the pool. The 60 apartments in total are built against the slope of a hill and overlook the saltwater swimming pool, the sea or the hilly landscape. The apartments have a living area with kitchenette, bathroom and air conditioning in the bedroom(s). Wi-Fi is available in the pizzeria and bar (free for the first 60 minutes).
The resort borders directly on two private beaches. One "wild" beach, accessible for free, and a beach with sun loungers and parasols (for a fee). Adjacent is a small harbor where motor boats (with and without a license) can be hired to sail, for example, towards the La Maddalena archipelago or along the Costa Smeralda. You can also book daily boat excursions to the archipelago of La Maddalena, the island of 'Caprera' and the Costa Smeralda via the reception.
From the resort, located in the north of Sardinia in the Olbia-Tempio region you can easily reach Palau (4 kilometers) from where many boat excursions depart. Also, the famous Costa Smeralda is just a few kilometers away. You can fly to the airports of Alghero and Olbia, both in the north of Sardinia.

The 60 apartments in total are playfully built against a hill and look out over the swimming pool, the sea or the hilly landscape from the adjacent terrace. All apartments are on the ground floor, with the exception of the steps to the sleeping quarters, which gives them the appearance of cozy holiday homes. Please note: Due to the construction against the hill, there is no escaping the stairs to the apartments. The interior is bright and all apartments are equipped with a living area with kitchenette, satellite television (Italian channels) and safe, bathroom and air conditioning in the bedroom(s). The car is parked in the parking lot near the apartments. The Beach apartments are located 30-100 meters from the beach and the other apartments 250 – 400 meters. Some apartment types can be booked with or without sea view. An additional charge applies for these sea view apartments.

Palau, located 4 kilometers away, hosts a lively night market that you should not miss! From Palau you can also take ferries to the various islands of the La Maddalena archipelago.
Of the dozens of islands of the La Maddalena archipelago, 7 are inhabited: La Maddalena, Razzoli, Santo Stefano, Caprera, Santa Maria, Spargi and Budelli. All the islands of the archipelago are part of the nature reserve Parco Nationale Arcipelago di La-Maddalena. The largest island and also the most visited is La Maddalena. Caprera (the island where Garibaldi died) is a paradise for snorkelling enthusiasts and with a bit of luck you can spot dolphins here too!

7 kilometers west of Palau is the windsurfing paradise called Porto Pollo (also known as Portu Puddu) with the adjacent island of Isola dei Gabbiani.
A few kilometers west of Porto Pollo you will find the extensive sandy beaches of Santa Teresa, followed by the special peninsula of Capo Testa. Capo Testa is characterized by fascinating rock formations along idyllic bays. The rock spectacle is most beautiful during sunset. From the lighthouse on Capo Testa, wonderful walks can be made along the various walking routes. During these walks it is indicated which flora and fauna is present in the area. During the walk, different animals can be imagined in the rock shapes. The perfect place for lovers of hiking, birdwatching, nature photography and epicureans.
The coastal strip with a length of about 55 kilometers between Portisco and Baia Sardinia has been the most popular tourist area of %u200B%u200BSardinia and actually all of Italy since 1961. It is, of course, about the Costa Smeralda with its bustling seaside resorts, elegant shops and lively nightlife. The most famous of the Costa Smeralda are Porto Cervo, Poltu Cuatu, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli and Cala di Volpe.
Taste the famous DOCG Vermentino di Gallura and the powerful red wines of the DOC Cannonau at the famous wine estate 'Vigne Surrau'. The wine estate is located on the road to Porto Cervo. The owners will give you a tour of the estate with its wine cellar, art gallery and wine canteen where the wines can be tasted. In 1997, the Surrau brothers planted the first vineyards. The first harvest was in 2004. From that moment on, the wines are imported to countries all over the world.
In the summer months, the summer festival 'L'Estate Olbiese' takes place in the center of Olbia (approx. 40 km from the holiday park). A cultural festival with concerts, performances, lectures and cabaret shows. For culture lovers, the archaeological museum, the church of San Simplicia and the church of San Paolo in the historic center are certainly worth a visit.
The ferry leaves from Genova, Livorno or Piombino to Olbia. Sardinia can therefore be perfectly combined with Tuscany. For example, a child-friendly holiday park on the Tuscan coast or a pleasant agriturismo in the green hills of Tuscany.

Our holiday at residence Mirto could not have been better. Starting from the accommodation consisting of an apartment surrounded by greenery. Absolute silence and confidentiality. A retreat from the hustle and bustle. With a beautiful view over a lush garden and the sea. The apartment was equipped with every comfort, from air conditioning to a perfectly equipped kitchen that we used daily. We really felt at home. The structure consists of several residential units sloping on a slope that leads to the beach below. In the center of the complex is a huge, truly beautiful sea water pool. The beach at Cala Capra is sheltered from the mistral and provided us with shelter on the only high wind day we had during our stay. The beach is small, but you can easily lie down on the lawn that is practically next to the beach in case there are too many people. Beautiful sea water. I recommend the apartments with a sea view because they offer you a beautiful view, which makes it very pleasant in the morning to have breakfast on the veranda equipped with table, chairs and sun loungers. Due to its location on a slope, some apartments are higher than others, but the whole structure is connected by a network of paths surrounded by greenery that allows you to reach both the pool and the sea without paths under the scorching sun. The paths are actually steeply sloping in places and therefore not suitable for prams or the elderly with walking difficulties. For us they do not pose any problem, but if you are interested in the structure, I advise you to specify any difficulties in moving in order to avoid unpleasant surprises. .and get accommodation closer to the beach, of course with a little more cost. A week of silence and relaxation in the countryside is not easy to find. We enjoyed the silence and the beautiful scenery, away from the deafening music of certain structures and the intrusive animation of the large resorts. If you want music and entertainment, you only have to travel two or three kilometers to get to Palau. We did it easily by car. So to conclude, I propose this structure to those who want a quality service in the perfect autonomy of an apartment by the sea in a beautiful environment like that of Sardinia and a beautiful environment like that of La Maddalena.
Il Mirto is very large and a beautiful holiday park. The location is fantastic, the decor is fine, everything neat and very clean! We had a great week.
