Arbatax Residence - Cottage
Located in the beautiful Sardinian east coast, on the peninsula of Bellavista, this family resort has comfortable rooms built in small atmospheric cottages. The cottages of the resort are perfect for a wonderful relaxing family holiday with or without children with all the facilities you could wish for.
This location has a lot to offer: from the beautiful nature, to the numerous sport facilities available in the area, to the largest wellness centre in Sardinia, there is something for everyone. For the children there is plenty of entertainment throughout the day and there are several restaurants on the complex where you can enjoy delicious local Sardinian dishes. For your stay you can choose from B&B, half, or full board.
The resort is located in a wooded area where you can encounter different types of animals such as Mouflons (wild sheep), boars, horses, deer, donkeys, and Sardinian cows, but also different types of birds that have found refuge here in a protected area ecosystem. The park is freely accessible to guests and from the many trails you can observe the animals in complete freedom and enjoy a spectacular view over the typical red rocks of Arbatax, the plains of Ogliastra and the Marine Park of Monte Santo. Every day at 6 p.m. you can explore the park accompanied by the Ranger and get an explanation about animals and the beauty of the nature around you.
Since 2012, there is an organic garden called "The Ortino" where vegetables and legumes grow according to natural cultivation and which are used in the menus of some of the resort's restaurants. The resort also has a great Thalasso & Spa Wellness Center, a modern wellness center with an area of 2000 square meters where water plays a central role. This center is freely accessible to guests of the cottages. Here you can enjoy saunas, whirlpools, waterfalls, Turkish baths and swimming pools with fresh and salt water. You can also indulge in soothing beauty treatments and relaxing massages (€) with a view of the water world around you.
Children will have plenty of water fun in the 2 swimming pools, and a shallow children's pool is also available. For the sporty guests there are no less than 5 tennis courts and squash courts available. You can let off steam on the football and volleyball courts, archery, and basketball courts. Fitness rooms as well as the swimming pools are used daily for aerobics and water aerobics. You can perform stretching exercises and Latin American dances with a trainer.
To discover the many caves in the beautiful underwater world on the coast of Ogliastra, a fully equipped dive center is available for diving enthusiasts to do any kind of underwater activity. If you do not have the right equipment with you - no problem, all equipment is available and courses (SSI instruction) are given daily by experienced instructors at every level, from beginner to advanced open water dives (€).
There is a 24h reception where you can go with all kinds of questions, you can also book various lessons, rent a car and get help with planning and / or booking various outings.

The cottages are connected rooms (each cottage contains 2 rooms, there are 75 in total, each room measures ± 30 m2). The rooms are equipped with every comfort and are located in one of the most attractive parts of the resort, 10 to a maximum of 100 meters from the sea. The rooms can accommodate up to 4 people and are decorated in typical Sardinian style. They are equipped with air conditioning, TV, minibar, safe, bathroom with hairdryer and overlook the sea or a lush garden. There are 3 types, Cottage Classic, Cottage Superior and Cottage Suite Mare. The Superior Cottages are the closest to the sea.
The Cottage Suite Mare (70 m2) is a detached chalet that can accommodate 4 people. There is room for an extra bed in some. The Cottage Suites are located close to the sea and consist of 2 rooms (bedroom + living room or two bedrooms and two bathrooms).
Guests of the Classic, Superior and Suite Mare cottages have access to a private (shared) swimming pool and the Sa Gana Restaurant. Of course, you can also dine in the various restaurants of the park (in some restaurants on reservation and at an additional charge).

The resort is located not far from the port city of Arbatax on the East coast of the island of Sardinia in the province of Nuoro. Arbatax has ferry connections to Genoa, Civitavecchia and Fiumicino and has its own marina with all facilities for approx. 400 berths. The province of Nuoro is rich in traditions, culture and myths and the resort hosts weekly evenings where you can experience the history, culture, art and gastronomy together with local artisans. You should try the unique delicacy Culurgiones Ogliastrini - a handmade cheese ravioli, a real local delicacy.
The island is a true paradise for hikers, but you can also discover the famous beaches of Cala Goloritze, Cala Luna, Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu, known worldwide for the emerald-green colour of the sea water.
It is also recommended to take a trip with the green train (trenino verde), the ideal way to discover Sardinia and its untouched nature in a very relaxed way. It is a narrow-gauge train, where the distance between the rails is about 50 cm narrower than the current standard, but at the time of construction, at the end of 1800, this was common. The big advantage is that the train can make small turns and is extremely suitable for mountainous terrain. The old steam or diesel locomotives cross mountainous landscapes and offer you beautiful panoramas, often unique because otherwise you can often only reach them on foot. The train buzzes through the landscape over bridges, through tunnels and past nostalgic stations of nice places that you should definitely visit. In Ulassai, for example, a visit to the museum of contemporary art, where works by, among others, the local artist Maria Lai are exhibited, is very worthwhile. The train runs four routes, but for this resort the Mandas - Arbatax - Mandas route is the most obvious. More information can be found on this website.
